Cuba is an island state of the Caribbean under the communist regime with white beaches and tobacco fields, whose role is important in the production of the country's legendary cigars. The capital, Havana, is characterized by pastel-coloured houses, 1950s cars and Spanish colonial architecture in Old Havana, the historic centre of the 16th century. Until the early 90s it was impossible to buy a property for sale in Cuba for those who had not been a resident and / or Cuban citizen.

Things have changed, even if not in the radical way we could expect, especially after under the leadership of Raul Castro, the country seems destined to abandon the closure policies towards foreign investments that had characterized it from the Revolution to the present.

These are two neighbourhoods where foreigners can buy a property for sale in Cuba, as they are areas subject to special legislation.

The problem is that those who want to buy a house in these two neighbourhoods will have to get in touch with a foreigner who holds the royal rights and buy it, as it is not yet possible for foreigners to buy houses or other buildings from the Cubans.

The induced scarcity has spurred upward prices, and for a very ordinary apartment you spend figures starting from about 150,000 Euros, prices absolutely out of the market on the Cuban island.

In the aforementioned districts, Miramar and Siboney have left the buildings, with the usual exception that allows foreigners to buy a property for sale in Cuba without any kind of problem.

These are certainly tempting possibilities, as they are apartments in very new condominiums built with good quality standards, which also guarantee common areas such as swimming pools, saunas and gymnasiums, and which also have vigilance at the entrance, which in a country with an important crime rate is always a plus that must surely be taken into account.

It should also be considered the fact that the two neighbourhoods are very urban, where there is little the Cuban spirit and where you lead a life very similar to that which would take place in a place in the south of Spain.

However, it is a country where poverty continues to produce entire neighbourhoods at risk, both for tourists and for residents.

It is always better to take account of the situation described and to choose a barrio (the so-called Cuban Spanish neighbourhoods are called) that is adequate for you and your family's safety if you have decided to buy a property for sale in Cuba.
